Born in Santa Monica, Joanne spent her first 11 years in California before moving to the Buckeye State where her father had accepted a new position. One of eight children, she lived the next 11 years in Toldeo, Ohio and graduated from Rogers High School.
While attending the University of Toledo, a professor offered her a position at the local junior high working with deaf children. Soon after, Joanne moved back to California but remained inspired to obtain a degree as an interpreter. She received her AA from El Camino College and went to work for the Rehabilitation Center in Redondo Beach.
The next several years accumulated a vast amount of experience. From working as a secretary for a Precious Metals firm, to a ticket agent for U.S. Air and finally as a server at Mimi's Café for 12 years, Joanne has plenty of supporters who can attest to why she is a trusted advisor for Green Hills.
Married in 1997, Joanne and her husband share in the beauty of their 20 year old daughter. Their daughter's pursued talents include singing, writing music and fashion.
THE GREEN HILLS COMMUNITY
Its memories like, assisting an elderly woman to the final resting place of her husband and son so she can say a prayer on their behalf, which reaffirms Joanne's decision to work for Green Hills 5+ years ago.
Joanne has experienced the loss of both parents and two younger brothers. She's certain no-one is fully prepared emotionally but making final arrangements in advance allows for more focus on the celebration of life. Joanne firmly believes beginning the conversation today provides for decisions to be all inclusive avoiding the opportunity one might be left with in an unexpected loss; thus questioning themselves if the right choices were made.
Her passion in life has always been about helping others and feels blessed to be able to do so here at Green Hills. Joanne states "I've found my niche".
OFF THE CLOCK
Although Joanne is embedded in a community heavily populated with USC and UCLA fans, she remains devoted to her Ohio State. As time permits she will be looking for Fall Saturday afternoon football score updates.
While traveling to Hawaii is a favorite destination, Joanne hopes there are enough years to visit as many countries as possible. Exploring the world is not a reward for working, instead an education.
